چکیده

was higher (P < 0.1) from S than from P adipose tissue, without changes in the FFA/glycerol ratio. The basal FFA/glycerol ratio tended to be higher in group 0 in both tissues (table I). However, the activity of perirenal 3-glycerol-P dehydrogenase, an enzyme involved in (re)esterification of FFA, was the same in both groups. Basal glycerol release, and the FFA/glycerol ratio, tended to be respectively lower and higher in S than in P. These results probably reflect partial hydrolysis of triglycerides and a higher turnover rate of FFA.

Possible modulation of adipose tissue responsiveness to catecholamines by available dietary protein in dairy cows during early lactation.

Early lactation is characterised by a number of metabolic adaptations which divert nutrients from the peripheral tissues in favour of the mammary gland. One such adaptation is the increased responsiveness of adipose tissue to lipolytic stimuli. The effects of the condition score at calving and the level of undegradable protein in the diet on the responsiveness of adipose tissue to adrenergic st...

Effect of insulin and growth hormone on plasma leptin in periparturient dairy cows.

After parturition, dairy cows suffer from an intense energy deficit caused by the onset of copious milk secretion and an inadequate increase in voluntary food intake. We previously showed that this energy deficit contributes to a decline in plasma leptin. This decline mirrors that of plasma insulin but is reciprocal to the profile of plasma growth hormone (GH), suggesting that both hormones may...

were mobilizing their body lipids. Six other cows were used as controls (’C group’). The diet was 60% corn silage and 40% concentrate. Groups 0 and C received 18 and 12% soybean meal, respectively. There was a between-group difference of 4.1 kg milk/d in previous peak lactation yield. Milk yield during wk 3 of experimental lactation was significantly lower in group 0 (27.7 vs 33.8 kg/d, P < 0.0...

Alterations of the electrocardiographic parameters in relation to circulating electrolytes and cardiac enzymes during different productive states of high producing Holstein dairy cows

BACKGROUND: Dairy cows undergo physiological changes during pregnancy and lactation and cardiovascular system may alter during these periods. OBJECTIVES: Understanding the physiological effects of production periods of dairy cows on heart electrical activities can aid to better monitoring the cardiovascular system in these animals. METHODS: Five multiparous Holstein dairy cows were studied from...
